Project Option III: Create-Your-Own Project
To start this project, you must prepare a detailed project proposal consisting of a list of reference papers and a description of the goals of the project and tasks you will complete. This proposal must be approved in advance in order to be a valid project option. This project option has the following requirements:
- There must be a simulation/evaluation portion of the project.
- The project must be relevant to the course and sufficiently deep at a conceptual level.
- The material must be sufficient for a course project.
- The project cannot be a direct compilation of your research work. Some new contributions are required for the project.
Once your project proposal is approved, you will be responsible for writing the necessary simulation code and either answering all of the questions asked or addressing all of the key points discussed in your project proposal. You may use any reasonable programming language for the simulation part of the project. Prepare a detailed project write-up (ideally 8-12 pages, 15 pages max) containing the following:
- A detailed summary of the project including all background material and references,
- A relevant set of models and assumpstions,
- A summary of your results and explanation of any figures, and
- A description of your implementation.
